He was born in Salt Creek and lived on the family farm there. He married Katherine in 1929 and they had a small dairy on the family farm. They moved to Dallas in 1984. He was a member of the Salt Creek School Board, Dallas Co-op and McMinnville Creamery Cooperative. He enjoyed reading and the McMinnville Cattle Auction. His wife died in 1989.
Survivors include his son, Tim of Dallas; daughters, Gladys Button of Kent, Wash., Laura Isaac of Shafter, Calif., Ella Penner of Fresno, Calif.; six grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 16 stepgreat-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and five stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Mennonite Brethren Church, where he was a member. Interment will be in Salt Creek Cemetery. Contributions: church memorial fund or Dallas Retirement Foundation, care of Dallas Mortuary Chapel.
