Mickey Nedelsky was a US Navy pilot and was on approach in his A-4B Skyhawk fighter jet when the cockpit suddenly filled with smoke. He could have bailed out and saved his own life but was over a very populated area of Jacksonville Florida, and decided to take the plane down in an open area of the airfield, killing him instantly.
