Johann Heinrich Reiber was born 1849 in Kolb, Russia. He was the son of Heinrich Jacob Reiber and Maria Catharina Minch. He married Maria Catharina Reiber 29 Dec 1869 in Kolb; died 16 Sep 1903 in Kolb. Ten children were born to this marriage: Maria Elisabeth, Anna Elisabeth, Catharina, Barbara, Johann Heinrich, Maria Catharina, Maria Elisabeth, Barbara, Eva Elisabeth, and Johann Heinrich Reiber. Only five children were living at the time of his wife's death.

He remarried to Catherina Margareth Miller 10 Jul 1905. In 1909 Henry and Kate immigrated to the United States and settled in Tacoma where other members of the family lived.
At the time of his death, he was living in a care center in Sumner, Washington, and was buried in the Sumner "Pioneer" Cemetery.
