She was born in May 1884 as Wobbigje Fabriek (= Factory) in the dairy farmers village Oldetrijne in the southern part of the Dutch northern province Friesland, named for her paternal grandmother Wobbegje Piers Woudsma.

On 14 May 1908 Wobbigje's father, the 55 years aged manager Pier Fabrick, arrived with his wife Grietje (56 y) and their children Yantje, Wobbigje, Gusje [Geesje], Dirk and Anne Fabrick on the SS Adriatic at New York, Ellis Island. Son Anne, an irrigation inspector, is accompanied by his wife Johanna and their infant Greta (1 y). Wobbigje and her two sisters are hatmakers and her brother Dirk is a teacher.
Their destination is Orange City in Iowa, where a nephew and cousin of her parents reside.

In 1910 Peter and Grietje Fabrick lived with their children Jennie (31 y), Wilma (25 y), Grace (24 y) and Dick (22 y) at Manhattan, Gallatin County in the southwestern part of Montana, near the Dutch settlement Holland, later on called Amsterdam.

On 28 April 1913 Wilma (Wobbigje, 26 y) returned with her parents Pier Fabriek (59 y, no occupation) and Grietje (60 y) on the SS Nieuw Amsterdam to New York with as final destination Bozeman, seat of Gallatin County, where their brother and son Jan was living, from a visit to Grietje's mother Mrs. Dijkstra at Wolvega, seat of municipality Weststellingwerf, Friesland, Netherlands.

Her mother Grietje died ultimo 1914 in Wolvega, the seat of her birth municipality Weststellingwerf in the southern part of the Dutch province Friesland, not unlikely during a visit to her relatives there.

In 1920 Wilma (34 y) lived with her husband John Vander Laan (32 y) and her father Peter Fabrick (65 y, widower) in Gallatin County, Montana. In 1930 the couple VanderLaan lived still with her father ànd their children Thomas (9 y) and Greta (7 y) both born in Montana, in Manhattan, Gallatin County. In May 1940 Wilma (53 y), her husband John VandeLaan (52 y, farmer in agriculture) and their children Thomas (20 y) and Greta (17 y) lived at an own home in Sanders County, in the Northwestern part of Montana, at the border with Idaho. In 1935 they lived in the same house.

Her husband John VanderLaan died in March 1970 at the age of 82 years in Marion County, in the northwestern part of Oregon, probably in Salem, the seat of the state Oregon. Wilma died there in August 1970 too, at the age of 86 years.
