Marie Rose (Daras) Briggs, age 84, of Newark, Del., died on Friday, November 17, 2006, at her home. Mrs. Briggs was born in Staten Island, N.Y., on February 8, 1922, daughter of Christos and Anna (Cucco) Daras. A talented homemaker throughout her life, she delighted in cooking and baking (especially Christmas cookies) for her family. Mrs. Briggs was a devout Catholic, and a longtime member of Holy Family parish. A lifelong hockey fan, she was an avid Flyers supporter. Mrs. Briggs also greatly enjoyed regular bingo evenings with her friends. Her husband of 62 years, Leo T. Briggs, died in 2003. She was survived by 3 children; a brother, James Daras of Minneapolis, Minn.; 5 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Tuesday, November. 21 at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Newark, Del.
