Mrs. Vicki Lynn Palmer Lucas, age 50, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, March 21, 2013. Vicki was surrounded by her loving family at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility. Born in Savannah, Georgia, Vicki resided in Maryland until moving to Nevils, GA in 1975. She graduated from Southeast Bulloch High School in 1980. Vicki worked for J.C. Penney until 1985 and then began her full life of being a homemaker and mother. She was an active member of Eastern Heights Baptist Church where she served in many capacitites, including the choir, VBS and as a Sunday School Teacher.
She was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Carolyn Chester Lucas (#70985927) and her grandparents, Ruth (#52052153) and A.J. Lowery (#52052128) and Etta and Kenneth Palmer.
Surviving are her husband of 31 years, Dennis Lucas; three children, Justin Carl Lucas, Anna Kate Lucas and Abby Denise Lucas all of Statesboro; her parents, Jeri Brewton Palmer and Bud Palmer of Statesboro; brother and sister-in-law, Keith and Paula Palmer and their son Jake, Vicki's special nephew, all of Statesboro; her father-in-law, Carl Lucas of Statesboro and sister-in-law, Traci Lucas of West Virginia. Several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation will be Saturday from 4:00pm until 7:00pm at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro.
Funeral services will be Sunday at 2:00pm in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with Dr. Harry Sherrer officiating, assisted by Rev. Greg Abercrombie.
Interment will be in the Payes Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Jenkins County.
Pallbearers will be John Kimes, Stacy Girardeau, Frankie Kennedy, Ricky Hutchinson, Matt Anderson and Jonathan Anderson.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Paul Reaves Sunday School Class.
