Vivian Adeline (Anderson) Allen of North Branch, MN, went to Heaven on Sun, Mar 17, 2013. She was 78 years old. Vivian was born on Jun 20, 1934, in Comfort Township. Vivian was preceded in death by her brothers Glen, Russell, Vernon, and Eldon Anderson; daughter Karen Allen; and husband Jack Allen. At the age of 7 she accepted Christ as her personal Savior and Lord of her life. During her youth, she attended Grasston Baptist Church. Vivian graduated from Mora High School in 1952 and shortly after served a year in the home mission organization – God's Invasion Army (GIA). Following this, she was employed as a secretary for Greater Europe Missions in Chicago, IL. While living in Chicago she met Jack Carl Allen on a blind date. The two fell in love and were married on Aug 31, 1957. To this union three children were born: Dawn, Karen and Gregg. Vivian was a full-time wife and mother. However, she was employed outside the home occasionally throughout the years. In 1971, Jack and Vivian began working together as house parents at a residential treatment center. Vivian loved this time in her life and was 'Mom' to many needy boys. She worked for a brief time as a secretary during the 1980's for Van-O-Lite, where her husband was employed as a salesman. For a few years prior to her retirement in the 1990's, she worked at Murray Products doing assembly work. Vivian lived up to her name. She was a vivacious, well-liked, charming woman who loved to have fun and work hard. She had many interests including sewing, knitting, crocheting, cross-stitch, cooking, baking, interior decorating, card games and fishing. She was a very thoughtful friend and loved entertaining. Having coffee with her friends and being involved in small group Bible studies were integral parts of her life. Vivian had a beautiful singing voice and was always harmonizing. She was blessed with the ability to play the accordion and piano by ear. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her children: Dawn (Rick) Holmquist of Cambridge, Gregg Allen of Aitkin; grandchildren: Bethany (Justin) Cleary of Cambridge, Seth Holmquist of Monterey, CA, (who is currently serving in the United States Air Force), Tabitha Holmquist of Cambridge; and sister Violet (Russ) Adams of Grasston. A funeral service was held on Thurs, Mar 21, 2013, at the Grasston Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Reed and Millard Erickson officiating. Interment was in the Oakwood Cemetery of Mora.
