Waverly - Melba Elsie Nagel, 89, of Waverly died Friday afternoon, May 1, 1998, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
She was born April 1, 1909, in Alhambra, the daughter of William and Anna Rodehl Clayton. She married Herman Nagel on Feb. 12, 1929, and he preceded her in death on May 10, 1974.
She is survived by four sons, Herman Jr. (wife, Evelyn) of New Berlin, Kenneth of Metamora, Charles of Waverly, Russell of Springfield; five daughters, Verla Adams of Waverly, Ruth Sheppard of New Berlin, Marilyn Mitchell of Franklin, Donna (husband, Harry) Long of Waverly, Judith (husband, David) Long of Waverly; 36 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son, Larry; one daughter, Linda; five brothers and three sisters.
Mrs. Nagel was a homemaker and a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church and St. Sebastian Altar Society.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Sebastian Church in Waverly with burial at Waverly East Cemetery.
