Alice C. Todd passed away Saturday, July 23, 2005 at the Madrid Home of Mardid. Alice was born to Earl A. Webb and Susan Simpson Webb on February 13, 1913 in Saylorville Township. They soon moved to a farm east of Madrid, where she attended and later graduated from Madrid High School. She had taken Normal Training, which was required to become a teacher, and taught a short time at a country school that was between Madrid and Woodward.

Alice married Eugene Todd in July of 1932. They settled in Madrid and has lived there until her death. She worked as a sales person for Ben Franklin Store for many years as well as Ardan Co. in Des Moines, Jensen Hardware and later Lawerence Hardware and Appliance in Madrid from which she retired. She knew many names and faces from her working in the public and this is what she enjoyed doing. She was the past president of the Ladies Auxiliary in Madrid.

She is survived by her children, Audrey Gibbons of Madrid, Donald of Boone and Steven of Adel; half brother, Frank W. Webb of Shawnee Mission, KS; five granddaughters; and five great-granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene; parents; and two brothers.

A memorial service will be held 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2005 in the Sanborn Chapel at The Madrid Home where Alice has resided for nine months. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Madrid Home.
