Iris Kermit Cook, a Veteran who proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, passed away on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at the age of 85.

He was the beloved husband of 28 years to Eugenia "Genie" Martin Cook, and by previous marriage, the late Ann White Cook.

Loving father of Janet C. Dauterive (Ronnie), Gary Randolph Cook and the late Kenneth Wayne Cook.

Step-father of Steve and Mark Couvillon.

Son of the late Estelle Buck and Charles Cook.

Grandfather of Patrice Pohlman, Iran Meche, Kara Marinello, Jayna Babin and the late Christie and Kenneth Cook Jr. Step-grandfather of Julie, Lindsey, Brandon, Kevin and Chris Couvillon.

He is also survived and fondly remembered by many cousins, relatives and dear friends.

Iris was a native of Plaquemine, LA and a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish where he was an honored member of the Andrew Jackson Masonic Lodge 428 and the V.F.W. Post 7194.

He was a dedicated and loving father and a friend to many and will be deeply missed by all those whose lives he touched.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNAD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Wednesday, January 26th from 11:00AM – 1:30PM, followed by a funeral service beginning at 1:30PM.

Burial will follow in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
