Clifford H. Byrd, 88

MAR. 17, 1924 — MAR. 5, 2013

Clifford H. Byrd passed away in Golden Living Center, Bloomington, IN, on March 5, 2013. He was 88 years old. He was born in Riddell, IN, to the late Howard and Lela (Batman) Byrd.

Clifford was a member of the American Legion Post 18 and was an Army Air Corps veteran, serving in WWII in the West South Pacific (Philippines and New Guinea). He served as a Sunday school superintendent of Bloomington Broadview Church of the Nazarene and was also a member of the Orlando Center Point Church of the Nazarene.

Clifford is survived by his loving wife, Lois (Pate) Byrd of 65 years; two daughters, Sherry (husband Alan) Dicer and Tara (husband Monty) Clay; one son, Curtis (wife Jenny) Byrd; two brothers, Clinton Byrd and Laverne Allen; brothers-in-law, Phil, Ron, Austin and Don Pate; and sister-in-law, Connie (Pate) Richards.

He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 3 step-great-grandchildren.

Clifford was preceded in death by his brother, James Allen.

Friends may call on Thursday, March 7, 2013, from 4-8 p.m. at Day Funeral Home, 4150 E. Third St., Bloomington, IN 47401. The funeral service will be held on Friday, March 8, 2013, at 1 p.m. also in the funeral home. Burial in Valhalla Memory Gardens with military rites performed by the American Legion of Bloomington.
