George Harvey Courtney, formerly of Rogersville, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Clifford Blakely near Knoxville, Saturday, December 20, 1948 at 10:30 a. m. Courtney, who was 75, had made his home with his daughter in Knoxville for the past .several years.
Funeral services were held Sunday, December 21 at the Rogersville Baptist Church with the Rev. W. B. Bacon and the Rev. T. M. Cody officiating. Burial was in Highland Cemetery.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Blakeley, Mrs. Amon Wright, Chattanooga, Miss Florida Courtney, Gate City, Miss Maggie Courtney, Rogersville; Three brothers, Marion, Rogersville; John, Texas, and Luther, Bloomington, Illinois; one sister, Mrs. Arve Arnold, Rogersville, and several grandchildren.
