Mr. Crouch died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2001, at his home. He was employed 38 years at George Evans Corp., Moline. He retired in 1981 as a plant superintendent. He also had farmed since 1945. He was born July 9, 1916, in Payson, Ill., to Samuel and Emma (Smith) Crouch. He married Florence Holtschlag on Feb. 26, 1938, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Hannibal, Mo. Jesse graduated from Lyngrove School, Quincy. Mr. Crouch was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, Silvis; and Carbon Cliff Birthday Bunch. He was a former scoutmaster, former president of Carbon Cliff/Barstow School Board and former president of the Carbon Cliff Optimist Club. Jesse enjoyed family gatherings, singing and playing country music. Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church or Carbon Cliff/Barstow Volunteer Fire Department. Survivors include his wife, Florence; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and DuWayne Krier, Bettendorf, Myrtle and David Ross, Moline, Betty and Gary Frantz, Erie, Ill., Bonnie and Emil VanHoutte, Coal Valley, and Sherry and Michael Johnson, Port Byron; sons and daughters-in-law, Jesse J. and Cheryl Crouch, Geneseo, James and Terry Crouch, Cambridge, and Rick and Terry Crouch, Rapids City; 25 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Wilde, Rock Island, and Fearn Tipton, Barry; and brothers, Samuel Crouch, Maywood, Mo., and Dallas Crouch, Las Vegas. His parents; sisters, Myrtle Holtschlag and Lucille Kennelly; and a granddaughter, Terry Frantz, preceded Jesse in death.
