MUSICIAN ALBERT T. HYATT DEAD.
-----
Meningitis Follows an Attack of Typhoid Fever-He Organized the First Regiment and Hyatt’s Bands.
-----
Albert T. Hyatt, for thirty-eight years prominent as a band leader and organizer, died at his home, No. 1319 King street, of meningitis, early yesterday morning. He had been ill for several weeks with typhoid fever, but recovered sufficiently to be out of the house. He was again stricken and for the last few days his condition had been critical. He was 59 years of age and was born in this city. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin M. Hyatt. His mother, Mary T., still lives,m in her 85th year.

Mr. Hyatt enlisted in the First Delaware Regiment and served through the war. He acted as the instructor of the regimental band. He organized the United Cornet and City Cornet bands, and after they disbanded, the First Regiment, which still exists. He organized the Hyatt’s Military Band about five years ago.

He formerly played the cornet in the bands and more recently the piccolo. He was at one time connected with the Opera House orchestra and had played in many organizations. His last appearance was about five weeks ago, when he played the French horn in a large orchestra in the Second Baptist mission school, Fourth and French streets, of which his son, George E., was the leader.

By trade Mr. Hyatt was a carriage body-maker and he worked at that trade at the Clymer works, Third and Orange streets, for about twelve years.

He leaves a wife, who was Miss Churnside, and two sons, George E. and Albert T. He was a member of Sheridan Post, G. A. R. The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon. The First Regiment and Hyatt’s Military Band will probably combine for the occasion and his fellow workmen from Clymer’s body works, and his comrades of the G. A. R., will also attend. Interment will be made at the Riverview Cemetery.
