Mignonne L Wiens Owens, 74, of Hutchinson KS passed away at 8:02 pm, Tuesday, March 19, 2013, peacefully, at Hutchinson Reginal Medical Center, Kansas.

Mignonne Laveva Owens was born in Hutchinson, Kansas on April 11, 1938, the daughter of Mabel Irene (Rotz) and Ernest John Wiens.


Mignonne attended the Hutchinson, Kansas elementary schools and graduated from Hutchinson High School, Hutchinson, Kansas, where she was honored to be Valedictorian of her class. She attended Kansas University, Lawrence, Kansas.

She was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church Hutchinson, Kansas where she served on the Altar Guild.

Mignonne was a homemaker and worked for Farmers Insurance in Austin, Texas and in Hutchinson as a claims processor and later as a bank teller at Commercial Federal Bank of Hutchinson, Kansas.

Mignonne attended quilting classes at the Delos Smith Senior Center, Hutchinson, Kansas. She loved knitting, crocheting, sewing, and quilting. She was a member of the Christian Friends Fellowship.

Mignonne Laveva Wiens was united in marriage to Larry Paul Owens on September 4, 1964 at the First Presbyterian Church, Hutchinson, Kansas.

Surviving family members include her loving and devoted husband of over forty-eight years, Larry P. Owens, of Hutchinson, Kansas; her daughter-in-law Alana Sneath and her husband Royce, of Washington; her granddaughter Madison Owens, of Washington; and a cousin Judy Sullivan and her husband Leo, of Olathe, Kansas; other relatives and a host of friends.

Mignonne was preceded in death by her Parents, Ernest and Mabel Wiens; and her son, Jason Eric Owens.

The memorial service will be held at Emanuel Lutheran Church, Hutchinson, Kansas, at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 23rd, with The Reverend Tim Carey officiating.

The graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at the McPherson Cemetery, McPherson, Kansas.
