Sally was the one primarily responsible for raising Mina Mahala Whitesell. Edna notes; "Sally Carter lived for over 40 years with Jemima and Walter Brown....at the old Brown house of logs at Dunboyne then new house (still standing but soon to go) at corner. Uncle George [George Paine Brown], [once was] homesick and Aunt Sally took him to play in [the] ashes of [the] old home."
