Maria Christina "Tina" Ashburn Hodges Feb. 21, 1947 - March 19, 2013 Maria Christina Ashburn Hodges passed away on March 19, 2013. Tina, as she was known by most, was born February 21, 1947 in Washington D.C. to David and Vera (Hauser) Ashburn. She moved with her family to Winston Salem in 1949. She attended school locally and was a graduate of Draughon's Business College. Tina loved England and was very fortunate to see her dream of visiting there fulfilled multiple times. She also loved genealogy and was proud to be the descendent of Johann Michael Graff, the first Moravian Bishop of Old Salem. Tina loved animals, especially cats. She was very artistic and started writing poetry as a young child, continuing to do so for the rest of her life. She is survived by her son Matthew Scott Hodges and his wife Kara Friedman of Winston-Salem, her two sisters, Lynne Dean of Richmond, Virginia, Sue Kugler and her husband Bob Kugler of VA Beach, Virginia, and her brother Mike Ashburn and his wife Susan of St. Simons Island, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her parents and her adoptive mother Edith Davis Hodges, as well as her sister Barbara Borucke. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, March 23 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of First Presbyterian Church in Winston Salem, Marshall street entrance with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, Tina requested that donations be made to the Forsyth Humane Society, 61 Miller Street Winston Salem, NC 27104.
