Mae H. Berry, age 84, 150 Jack Berry Rd., Unicoi, died Thursday, October 27, 2005 at her residence following a brief illness. A native of Carter County, she was a resident of Unicoi most of her life. Mrs. Berry was a daughter of the late Rev. Martin and Vida Young Hyder. She attended Limestone Cove United Methodist Church and was a member of United Methodist Women. Mrs. Berry was retired from Magnavox. She assisted her husband with Boy Scouts of America Troop No. 69 for many years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Berry, May 16, 1988 and three brothers, Willie Hyder, J. H. Hyder and Jack Hyder. Survivors are three daughters and sons-in-law, Lona and Ronnie Edwards, Unicoi, Pauline and Sherrill Francis, Jonesborough, Mildred and Bobby McKinney, Hampton, two sons and one daughter-in-law, Paul and Jewell Berry, Unicoi, Sam Berry and special friend Angela Hager, Jefferson County, seven sisters, Vergie Dutton, Millville, NJ, Madgie Gilbert, Johnson City, Gladys Roberts, Unicoi, Armeta Ringman, Michigan, Hattie Bell, Unicoi, Jewell Odom, Bakersville, NC, Mary Vance, Hampton, seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two special friends, Thelma Bell and Alice Rogers, both of Unicoi. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Mrs. Berry will be conducted at 7 p.m. Saturday, October 29 in the Tetrick Funeral Home Riverside Chapel with Rev. Estel Williams, Rev. Dallas Gregg and Rev. Billy Byrd officiating. Music will be under the direction of Rev. Harold McNabb and Jo Ann Boitz, soloists. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Saturday in the chapel prior to the service or at other times at the residence, 150 Jack Berry Rd., Unicoi. The graveside service and interment will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 30 in Berry Cemetery, Simerly Creek Community. Everyone is asked to meet at the funeral home at 1 p.m. Sunday to go in procession to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Jason Berry, Seth Berry, Nathan King, Sam Ford, Jake Ford and Danny Cole. It was Moma Mae's request that members of Limestone Cove United Methodist Church serve as honorary pallbearers in addition to Henry Berry and friends and neighbors. The family would like to extend special thanks to Alice Rogers, P.A., Dr. Judd Colinger, and Adventa Hospice. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to Gideons International, P. O. Box 1951, Elizabethton, TN 37643 or to Limestone Cove United Methodist Church Building Fund, 2375 Hwy. 107, Unicoi, TN 37692.
