ELDRIDGE, Iowa - Raymond L. Dammann, of Eldridge, died Wednesday, July 29, 1998, at Davenport Medical Center, after a brief illness. Services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Runge Mortuary and Crematory, Davenport. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Friday at the mortuary. Mr. Dammann had farmed in Eldridge his entire working life.
He was born July 23, 1909, in Eldridge, to Emil and Dora (Heldt) Dammann. He married Inez Knutsen on Feb. 13, 1951, at Little Brown Church, Nashua. She died Jan. 5, 1994. He was of Lutheran faith, a member of Davenport Moose Lodge, Scott County Farm Bureau, Eastern Iowa Polka Club and Quad-City Times Plus 60 Club and a former member of Walcott Community Club and East End Club, Moline. He enjoyed playing cards and attending polkas. Memorials may be made to the family. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Dennis Sr. and Janet Dammann, Eldridge; a son, Dale Dammann, Eldridge; grandchildren, Susan, Jennifer and Dennis Jr.; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Melvin Dammann, Park View; and several nephews and nieces. He was preceded by his parents and a sister, Adeline Witt.
