BLUFF CITY, Tenn. - Margie Adkins Stanley, age 84, went to be with the Lord Sunday morning, Sept. 13, 2009, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Feb. 28, 1925 in Coeburn, Va., to the late Amos Clay and Rachel Keith Adkins.

She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who unselfishly dedicated her life to her husband, children and grandchildren.

She was a member of Heartland Fellowship (Church of God of Prophecy), in Elizabethton, Tenn.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her grandson, Christopher William Stanley.

She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Virgil Dayton Stanley; one daughter, Linda Stanley Powers and husband James, of Knoxville, Tenn.; three sons, Danny Stanley and wife Portia, of Bluff City, Bill Stanley and wife Madeleine, of Chattonooga, Tenn., and Phillip Stanley and wife Jessica, of Bluff City. Also surviving are nine grandchildren; 16 great- grandchildren; and sisters, Eula Culberson, of Greenville, N.C., and Crystal Meade, of Coeburn.

The family of Margie Adkins Stanley will recieve friends Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2009, from 6 until 8 p.m., at Heartland Fellowship (Church of God of Prophecy), 211 Heartland Way, Elizabethton, TN 37643, with Funeral services being conducted at 8 p.m., with Pastor Marvin Slagle officiating.

Private committal and entombment services will be conducted on Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2009, at Tri-Cities Memory Gardens Mausoleum. Flowers will be appreciated or memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Fellowship, P.O. Box 241, Hampton, TN 37658.

The family would like to send a special thanks to Amedisys Hospice for their care.
