She was married first 1947 (license dated May 26, 1947 in Solano County, California) to James Franklyn Lyall (1920-1997). They divorced. She was married second May 12, 1952 at Coeur d'Alene, Kootenai County, Idaho to Henry Harold "Hank" Gorman.-Information provided by Find A Grave contributor, Steve Johnston, via email April 1, 2019.

Verna Mae Gorman passed away peacefully on February 4, 2008, at the age of 83. Born on Nov. 1, 1924, in Vancouver, B.C. and raised on Lopez Island, Washington State. Verna married the love of her life, Henry Harold ("Hank") Gorman in Coeur d'Alene, ID in 1952. They were married 54 years until Hank predeceased Verna on 06/11/2006. Verna and Hank moved to Chico, Calif. in 1954, where they raised their three children. Verna was a loving wife, devoted mother and tremendous homemaker, tending to the needs of her family above self with an abundance of caring and prayer, fabulous cooking, generosity and love, all which will be missed so very deeply.

Verna is survived by her three children, Richard Allen Gorman (Angie) and Steven Edward Gorman of Chico, Calif. Christine Susan Chavez (Kenneth) of Elk Grove, Calif.; three grandchildren, Tara Gorman, Robert Chavez and Kelly Chavez (Zack) and one great-grandchild, Joshua, brother, Albert Hoey of Chico; her cousins who were like sisters to her since childhood, May Kirkpatrick of Bellingham, WA and Jackie Wecker of Spokane, WA.

Verna was devoted in faith and prayer. Up until her final months on this earth, she continued her pursuit of spiritual and personal growth, always more concerned about family members than herself. Our loss is heaven's gain to now hold and possess the shiny and perfect stone, that is you Mom. All our love, forever and ever.

At Verna's request, she will be honored at a simple graveside ceremony and join her husband in rest at the Veteran's section of Chico Cemetery on Thursday, February 7, 2008.
