LOWVILLE - Mary J. Schwendy, 82, formerly of Stowe Street, died May 15 at Lewis County Residential Health Care Facility, where she had lived since June. A funeral Mass was at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Burial was in Lowville Rural Cemetery, Surviving are a son and his wife, Gary and Sylvie, ; a brother, Maurice E. McGrath, Lowville; a sister, Doris A. Petrovitz, Lowville, A son, Edward J„ six brothers, Maynard P., Vincent J., Raymond D., Leo J., Donald G. and Bernard G. McGrath, and a sister, Madeline Weigandt, died before him. Born Aug. 15, 1917, in Lowville, daughter of Daniel and Anna Flander McGrath, she attended Lowville Free Academy. She married Meivin F, Schwendy on June 17,1939, at St, Peter's Catholic Church. The couple lived in Croghan and later moved to Lowville, where they resided on Stowe Street. Mr. Schwendy died June 21,1974. Mrs. Schwendy was a homemaker and enjoyed crocheting and knitting. She was a communicant of St. Peter's Catholic Church and a member of its Altar and Rosary Society, the Daughters of Isabella and St. Theresa's Guild. She was also a member of the Lowville Senior Citizens.
