Rosemary Moore Lewis was born in Troy, Texas, on 5 May 1923, the daughter of Thomas Connally Moore and Grace Moore. She died in San Antonio, Texas, on Friday, 24 August 2012, Texas, aged 89.

Rosemary grew up in the household of her paternal grandparents, Floy and Bertha Connally Moore, at the Connally family homestead in Falls County, about a mile east of Eddy, Texas.

She was educated at primary and high schools in Eddy and graduated from Baylor University, where she studied drama and developed a life-long interest in theater. She was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority.

Rosemary married in 1946 and moved with her husband to Dayton, Ohio. They returned briefly to Austin and then moved to Dallas. Rosemary taught preschool children in Dallas. The family moved to Castle Hills, San Antonio, Texas, in 1959.

In the 1960s she continued her education at Our Lady of the Lake University, where she obtained her Masters degree in speech pathology. After completing her Masters, she became Director of Special Education Services for the Judson Independent School District, a position in which she remained until her retirement.

Rosemary was active in the Covenant Presbyterian Church of Castle Hills for many years.

She served on the board of directors of Goodwill Industries of San Antonio, the board of the San Antonio Little Theater, where she was active in the SALT Pillars, and the board of the Assistance League of San Antonio. She was active in the Women's Club of Castle Hills. She enjoyed traveling, especially in Mexico and Europe, and was an avid bridge player.

Rosemary Lewis is survived by her husband, Ermine Douglas Lewis, her sons Ermine Douglas Lewis, Jr., Thomas J. Lewis, John Lewis, David L. Lewis, her sisters Francis Crouch and Tomme Riklin, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Viewing will begin at 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, August 30th at Covenant Presbyterian Church.
