Death of Mrs. America Crutcher: Mrs. America Crutcher died at the residence of her son-in-law, Dr. T.B. Loyd, this city, last Monday morning (4 Jan 1892), of la grippe and pneumonia, aged 75 years. She was born 5 Jan 1817, in Kentucky, and came to Monroe County while quite young. She was married to Wm. Crutcher in 1834. Her husband died in 1844, leaving her with five children, to whose welfare and prosperity she devoted her life. She was a model mother, a kind neighbor, a devoted friend, and a zealous Christian, being a member of O.S. Baptist Church. She died in the full hope of a blessed immortality. Mrs. Crutcher was one of the pioneer settlers of this county and was held in the highest esteem by a large number of friends and relatives. She was the mother of Mrs. Amanda Crutcher, Mrs. Dr. T.B. Loyd, and Judge Jas. M. Crutcher, of this city. The funeral took place at the residence of Dr. Loyd last Tuesday afternoon, and the remains were laid to rest in the cemetery to await the resurrection.
