He was born Sunday, August 19, 1928 in Stewart, the son of Isaac S Dalton and Isabelle (Goins) Dalton. He married Eva (Hill) Dalton on Saturday, July 9, 1955 who proceded her in death on Sunday, January 13, 2008.
William served his country with the United States Army during the Koren Conflict. He retired from the Roper Company in Newark, and also worked on the Pennelsyvina Railroad. He continued to work at many other places including Dunzwiler Reality for over 13 years. He was also the owner and operator of Dalton Hauling and he enjoyed hunting.
William is survived by two daughters: Dorothy (Wetzel) Taylor Jr. and Martha (Torin) Dalton both of Zanesville; three sons: Thomas (Chris) Dalton, Marcus (Kristy) Hill and Chad (Rhonda) Hill all of Zanesville; one brother: Harold Isaac (Rose) Dalton of Chesterhill and one sister: Jenny "Sis" Mayle of Zanesville; 11 grandchildren: Jeffrey (Stephanie) Hocker, William "Billy" Taylor, Thomas "Tommy" (Shelly) Dalton, Jr., Audra (Greg) Stotts, Bruce (Devyn) Dalton, Eva (Nathan) Dalton, Marcus Hill, Jr. Morgan Hill and Merek Hill; 21 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and many special friends and family members.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Eva Dalton; one son: Billy F. Dalton Jr.; two brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Thursday, March 21, 2013 at the Hillis Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue, where funeral services will be held at 12 noon with Chaplin William Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery Veteran Gardens with VFW Post 1058 conducting full Military Honors.
