Laverda was born Sept 26, 1928 in Ardmore to the late Homer & Jesse (Miller) Moyers. She died Monday, Mar 18, 2013 in Ardmore at the age of 84 years 5 months and 22 days. Laverda and Hale Donald McKee were married on Mar 30, 1946 in Gainesville, TX. He preceded her in death on Jan 13, 1992. Others preceding her in death include two sons, Richard "Mac" McKee and Gary Don McKee; brother, Homer Lee Moyers; as well as a sister-in-law, Betty Thomason.
Laverda grew up in Ardmore where she attended school. She, along with Hale, worked for Stromberg Carlson for some 30+ years prior to retiring in 1984. After retiring, she began working for the City of Ardmore in the Parks & Recreations Dept. She spent most of time overseeing sporting events at Regional Park. In her spare time, Laverda loved to shop. She was a member of the Maxwell Avenue Church of Christ.
Survivors include one son, Hugh Dale McKee of Ardmore; daughter-in-law, Fern McKee of Davis; six grandchildren, Kimberly Budish & husband Brad, Richie McKee & wife Brooke, Chris McKee, Halie McKee, Gary Don McKee,II and Todd Eveland; several great-grandchildren including Shae, Annsley & Avynn Budish, Deakan McKee and Jaylee McKee; as well as two cousins, Virgil Trout and JoAnn Vance.
Serving as pallbearers will be Richie McKee, Don Moyers, Robert Moyers, Gary Follis, Dale McKee and Robin McKee.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5 – 7PM at the funeral home.
