Ollie Harris Vines, age 91, passed from this life to the next on March 16, 2013, in Amarillo, TX. Graveside services will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at Ross Cemetery in Baird, Texas, with John Snider officiating. Services are under the direction of Parker Funeral Home in Baird. Viewing and visitation will be held from 8:00 AM until 11:30 AM Wednesday morning at the funeral home.

Ollie was born December 27, 1921 in Winters, TX, to J. N. and Nettie Adams Harris. She attended school in Callahan County, TX. She and Eldon Vines married in Baird in 1939 where they raised their five children.

Due to her husband's job with the phone company, Ollie found herself moving to Pecos and then Andrews. She enjoyed working at various retail stores including Lawrence Drug Store in Baird, Gibson's of Pecos, and The Little Shoppe in Andrews. In her earlier years Ollie and Eldon enjoyed "pickin' and singing" on "Music Night" with Eldon's band. This developed her love for country music. She continued to keep up with Nashville's finest up until her death. Some of her favorite memories include trips to Branson, MO, with her friends from Andrews. The Andrews Church of Christ became an important part of their lives. Jesus Christ was her Lord and Savior and she was clothed in baptism in Baird, TX, in the early 1940's.

Ollie was a fun-loving lady with a quick joke and a charming smile. She loved her family and the hustle and bustle of activity when the family came together at her home in Andrews. She spent the last two years living in Amarillo, TX, in assisted living where she was a bright light to all those who came in contact with her. Many of the staff and residents "adopted" her as a mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and most of all a friend. Ollie will be missed by all, but most of all her loving children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

She is survived by 1 son, Tommy Vines and wife Cheryl of Balmorhea, TX; 3 daughters, Jean Willingham of May, TX, Bess Donaway and husband Lee of Amarillo, TX, and Deborah Douglas of Seattle, WA; 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, infant daughter Reba Jo Vines, brother Fred Harris, and husband of 53 years, Eldon Vines.

Pallbearers include grandsons Jeff Donaway, Russell Donaway, Brad Vines, Tommy Dale Vines, Coy Vines, and great-grandsons Logan Cooksey, Dylan Brame, and Jeremy Bicknell.
