Newton Man's Companion Hurt in Wayland Mishap
Concord, Mass, Aug 20 - Emanuel Starr, 30, Newton business man and a nephew of Joseph B. Grossman of Quincy, member of the Governor's Council, died here tonight in the Emerson Hospital of a fractured skull as the result of an automobile accident in Wayland this afternoon.
Joseph Tulis of 135 Glren road, Wellesley, operator of the automobile in which Starr was riding, is also at the Emerson Hospital with several broken ribs. His condition is not considered serious.
According to the State police, who investigated the accident, the car in which Starr and Tulis were riding collided with a large automobile trailer truck used to transport new automobiles on a curve on the Wayland-Lincoln road near the Lincoln line in Wayland.
Edward Walsh of New London, Conn, operator of the truck, which was empty at the time, escaped injuried. The trailer and the Tulis machine were baadly damaged.
Starr was graduated from the Medford High School and from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was division manager of the C. H. Spring Company, Inc, dealing in grain, bricks and cement, at 27 Washington st, Newton Highlands.
Surviving Mr Starr are his wife, Mrs Anna R. Starr; three children, Barbara Starr, Marjorie Starr and Carolyn Starr, all of Newton; his mother, Mrs Pauline Starr of Medford, and two sisters, Miss Miriam Starr, a teacher in the Quincy schools, and Miss Esther Starr of Medford.
Mr Starr lived at 17 Ireland road, Newton Centre.
Funeral services will be held from his late home tomorrow morning at 11 a m.
