After his death in 1883, she married Calvin Nance Melton on 20 October 1885 in Walnut Grove, Greene, Missouri, and they moved to Shawnee, Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma, to be near family. Together, they raised Minnie Melton's son, Calvin G. Wilkins (aka Calvin Nance Melton after legally changing his name in Colorado to honor his grandfather). Calvin and Elizabeth were buried in an unmarked grave in Fairview Cemetery in Shawnee, Oklahoma, in Block 5 Lot 122 in the southwest quarter of the plot.
