In her young years she attended the Rock Creek Brethren Church and served as secretary during that time. A corner of the Mishler farm was donated y her father, Cyrus Mishler, for the church.
On April 13, 1915 she was united in marriage to Forrest Payne, They made their home in Mitchell, South Dakota for a short time where she held a job as a waitress. Upon returning to Sabetha they farmed the John Mishler farm for several years, During this time twin daughters, Elda and Nelda, were born. They also cared for several homeless boys. In 1981 they moved back to the Cyrus Mishler homestead and farmed until their retirement. She remained there with daughter, Elda Livengood, and family and spent the winters with daughter, Nelda Halbert, in California and later Oregon. She entered the hospital January 22nd. Death came February 17, 1985 in the Fountain Villa Nursing Home at Sabetha.
Preceding her in death were her parents, five brothers, three sisters, her husband, Forrest, and one grandson.
Surviving are the daughters, Elda Livengood of Sabetha and Nelda Halbert of Brookings, Oregon sons-in-law, Langdon Livengood and Howard Halbert; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren,
Services were held February 19, 1985 at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel. Rev. Glenn Fruth of Abilene officiated. Organ music was played by Iola M. Popkess and "In The Garden" was played. The casket bearers were Church Livengood, David Bozone, Lee Livengood, Daryl Bechtelheimer, Steve Kesler and John Stauffer. The interment was made in the Sabetha Cemetery.
