"Lizzie" Elizabeth Hazeltine Caskey Whittenberg was born to John Coffey and Adeline Tomlinson Caskey on 7-30-1843 in Maury County, Tennessee. She had twelve siblings and they are: John, William, Nancy, George, Sarah, Mildred, Adeline, Mary, Tennessee, Edward, Martha and John.

On August 24, 1859, Lizzie married Thomas Daniel Scales Whittenberg. The two had no children of their own but loved their nieces and nephews very much.

In 1906 Lizzie became a widow and on January 14, 1907 she applied for the U.S. Confederate Pension. John had served in the Civil War for the Conferdacy in 1961.

On May 12, 1921, Elizabeth Hazeltine Caskey Whittenberg died at the age of 78.
