Funeral services will be on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at 11:00 AM, at Carolina Funeral Home Chapel, 215 E. Hwy. 378 Bypass, Scranton, officiated by Pastor Sherwood Lee and Reverend Freddie Gaymon. Entombment will follow in Florence Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Wednesday, March 20th at Carolina Funeral Home, and other times at the residence of his son, John L. Ham, Jr., 3328 Sawgrass Drive, Florence, SC.
John was born on October 5, 1925 in Florence County, SC. He was a son of the late Spy Richard Ham and Nealie Boswell Ham. He attended Florence County Schools. He retired from the Florence County Health Department in 1990. He was an active member of Parkwood Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, gardening and deer hunting.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva Welch Ham, a brother Carl Ham and two sisters, Berta H. Matthews and Janet H. Evans.
Surviving are two sons, John L. Ham, Jr. and his wife Gina and Richard L. Ham and his wife Shannon; a brother R. Clinton (Lucille) Ham; two sisters, Linnie (Dudley) Myers of Florence and Mary (L.A.) Smith of Charleston; and four grandchildren, Stephanie Ham and Forrest Ham, both of Florence, Carson Ham and Ella Ham, both of Coward; numerous nieces and nephews.
