Robert Phelps Perkins, 60, of Liberty Road in Campbellsville died at 4 p.m. on Thursday, April 19, 2007, in Campbellsville after a logging accident.
Son of the late James C. "Jim" Perkins and Violet Rice Perkins, he was born on June 6, 1946, in Taylor County. He was retired from the bleach house at Fruit of the Loom, was an employee of Wal-Mart and a former member of the U.S. Army Reserves.
He was married to Nellie Wooley on Sept. 17, 1966. She preceded him in death May 3, 1982. He later married Rita Wilson Benningfield on April 2, 1983. She survives.
Survivors also include four daughters and sons-in-law, Sheila Louise and Terry Maddox of Shepherdsville, Ky., Shirley Ann and Lawrence Yates of Greensburg, Ky., and Mistie Gayle and Joseph Lee and Ashley Renee and Jeremy Mann, all of Campbellsville; a stepson, David Benningfield of Campbellsville; 11 grandchildren; two brothers, Carl Perkins and Herbert Lee Perkins, both of Campbellsville; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charles and Fay Wilson of Campbellsville; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Doug and Pam Wilson of Danville, Ky.
In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Robbin Jean Perkins on July 23, 1983; and a brother, Shirley Gene Perkins on Feb. 1, 1941.
Funeral was Sunday, April 22 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville. Bro. Robert Boston officiated. Burial was in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Joe Cox, Kalvin Mann, Kevin Mann, Johnny Phillips, Pat Phillips and Chuck Whitehouse.
