Griffin, Emma Burma (Dorsey-Sackett)

Avon: March 13, 2013 at age 97. She is survived by her daughters, Lynne (Jerry) Mooney of SC, Candace (Mark) Rogers of Caledonia; sons, Alan (Karen) Sackett of Springwater, Vance Dorsey of Avon; 6 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law; several nieces and nephews. Burma attended Avon School and Geneseo Normal School. She was a two time Valedictorian. Burma was a hard worker who eventually retired at 80+ years of age. Burma was strong in mind, heart and spirit all the days of her life. After a very short illness, she passed peacefully in her home where she lived for 68 years, surrounded as always by her loving family. She will be forever missed and forever celebrated by the family she loved so well. She was a member of the Avon American Legion Auxiliary for 46 years.

Family and friends are invited to call Monday 4-7 PM at the Stephenson-Dougherty Funeral Home Inc., 350 Genesee St., Avon. Tuesday at 10 AM her Funeral Mass will be held at St. Agnes Church, Avon. Interment, St. Agnes Cemetery, Avon. Memorials may be made to the Livingston County Hospice.
