Alford "Al" Reed, 92, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2013, in Burleson. Graveside service: 11:30 p.m. Wednesday with full military honors in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel. Alford was born Nov. 14, 1920, to Charlie C. and Bessie Reed in Hillsboro. He was involved in CCC Camp from 1938 to 1941. Alford was a veteran and proudly served in the United States Army from 1941 through 1973. During his years of service, he served in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War, and earned the Eamet Campaign Medal with five bronze service stars for good conduct. He was a lifetime member of the VFW. Survivors: Brother, Charles E. Reed and wife, Patsy, of Everman; sister, Margaret McClain of Crafton; several nieces and nephews; sons, Gary Reed and Tony Reed, both of Trinity, N.C.; and daughters, Shirley Fox of Ashboro, N.C., and Wanda Singleton of Wallace, S.C.
