Thomas August Raasch, Jr. passed away on March 18. 2013. He was born March 21, 1921, in Bessie, Washita County, OK to Thomas August and Georgia A. Brown Raasch. He accepted the Lord as his Savior at the age of 13 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Yukon, OK. He sang in the church choir and the Yukon Senior Center "Silver Chords Choir." He was a paid up-for-Life American Legion member. He was raised on a farm near Cooperton, OK and graduated from Cooperton High School in 1940. He had to leave the farm due to allergy to wheat dust. He took an aviation mechanics course at Curtiss-Wright Tech Institute in Glendale, CA. He then worked at North American Aviation Factory for approximately two years, and then transferred to Douglas Plant at Tinker A.F.B. until Oct. 1944. He was drafted into the Navy in Oct. 1944 and was discharged in Dec. 1945. He worked in Civil Service at Tinker A.F.B. as a Crew Chief, then flight test- line foreman. He retired in 1972 after 26 years of service. Then he worked 10 years for H&R Block as a tax preparer. Thomas was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Raasch; parents; two brothers, Robert R. Raasch and James K. Raasch; daughter, Mary Kathryn Enloe; and two sons, Sherman M. Raasch and Thomas A. Raasch III. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 21st at the First United Methodist Church at 400 Elm, Yukon, OK, with interment in Arlington Memory Gardens, Midwest City, OK.
