Catherine Mae Youndt, 93, passed away peacefully at home on March 16, 2013.
Catherine's life was deeply rooted in Lancaster County. Growing up as Catherine Good on a Bowmansville farm that had been in her family since the early 1700's, she attended a two-room schoolhouse until 8th grade. She worked on the farm with her parents, Peter S. and Carrie M. (Redcay) Good, three brothers and two sisters. Later working at a local silk factory, she produced parachutes for our airborne forces during WWII.
In 1947, she married Robert Youndt, Fivepointville. Their wedding photo, still hanging over her bed, shows a strikingly handsome couple. For 57 years, until his death July 18, 2004, they were inseparable, becoming pillars of the community.
Catherine's memory lives in her daughters, four grandchildren a great-grand-daughter, and brother.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Harvey and Ralph, and two sisters, Anna Bixler and Myrle Good.
