Obituary for Marjorie Henderson
Marjorie Moore Henderson, 85, died at the Johnson City Medical Center on Thursday, September 6, 2012.
A native of Limestone, Tennessee, Mrs. Henderson was a graduate of Washington College Academy, and worked as a linotype operator at the Kingsport Press for several years, prior to starting a family. She was a member of First Christian Church for more than sixty years, and also of the Win-a-Kuple Sunday School Class. She attended services as long as her health permitted. Mrs. Henderson was a former member of the Indian Ridge Home Demonstration Club.
Mrs. Henderson was preceded in death by her husband, John (Jack) Henderson, and her parents, James B. Moore and Mollie Wiseman Moore. She was also preceded in death by nine half siblings: Norah Jane Moore, Anne Belle Esther Moore, William Leonard Moore, Horace Claude Moore, Dallas Fay Moore, Lena May Moore Strebler, Alma Ilene Moore, Mary Blanche Moore Sheets, and Mildred Genevieve Moore Cummins. In addition, she was preceded in death by her sister, Saraha Cleo Moore Fager. Mrs. Henderson was also preceded in death by several nephews and a niece.
Survivors include her daughter, Rebecca Henderson, of Johnson City, as well as a sister, Alice Rebecca Moore Bailey of Miamisburg, Ohio. Two nieces and two nephews survive, as do several great-and great-great nieces and great-and great-great nephews.
Mrs. Henderson donated her body to The James H. Quillen College of Medicine for scientific research. The family expresses great appreciation to Devapiran Jaishankar, M.D., for the tremendous care, concern and compassion he exhibited to Mrs. Henderson. The family also expresses great appreciation to Joe Knisley, Pharmacist, of West Towne Pharmacy for going above and beyond the call of duty on many occasions.
It was Mrs. Henderson's wish to have a joint visitation and funeral with her late husband, John W. "Jack" Henderson, as printed above. The joint visitation will be at Appalachian Funeral Home on Friday, October 5 from 5:00-7:00 P.M., with the funerals at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 6, also at Appalachian Funeral Home. The funerals will be under the direction of Dr. Gene Wigginton and Steve Hill, Minister.
