Isaac Thayer
Indian fighter, stagecoach driver, scout, pioneer and close personal friend of the great "Buffalo " Bill Cody! Thayer had quite a background of history. As a youth, he became a sailor and traveled around the world FOUR times! He was one of 50 cavalrymen under Major George Forsyth that helped hold around 500 indians at bay for a week at Republican River, just inside Colorado, until help from the cavalry arrived. He set up a mail service and drove a stagecoach for Hays City, KS being attacked by indians and highwaymen. He was later elected sheriff of Hays City during Hays boom of crime and murder. It was here he met and became a close friend of Cody.
