Michael Wayne Rowan, 69, of New London, Iowa, died at Great River Hospice House on Sunday afternoon, March 17, 2013.

Born on July 14, 1943 in Burlington, Iowa, he was the son of James J. and Florence E. McCabe Rowan. He married Jody Kimble.

Michael was a graduate of Notre Dame High School. He served his country with four years of service in the U.S. Air Force. He worked for 20 years with GTE Telephone Service. He also worked for Bill Sater Blacksmith, Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. He also worked as a heavy equipment operator (bulldozing and crane work). Michael also owned a fabrication shop. He liked to build, weld and manufacture projects such as the bike trailer for Bike Burlington. He worked in 35 states altogether and had a desire to work in all 50 which coincided with his love to travel.

He is survived by his wife, Jody; one daughter, Christina Rowan of Burlington, Iowa; three sons, James Rowan, Justin Rowan and Sean Rowan, all of New London, Iowa; two sisters, Kathleen Peterschmidt of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Patricia Garreau of Linn, Missouri; one brother, Thomas (Sara) Rowan of Danville, Iowa; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
