ALPHONSE J RAMMINGER

Alphonse Joseph Ramminger, age 71, of Kiel, died on January 26, 2004 at Theda Clark Regional Medical Center in Neenah.

He was born October 22, 1932 in Chilton son of the late Anton and Nerina (Gruber) Ramminger.

He married Eileen J. Siefert on July 7, 1956 at Mother of Perpetual Help Church in Milwaukee.

Alphonse served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He and his wife then lived in Milwaukee and later moved to the Cedarburg area while Alphonse worked for Ed's Floor Covering in Cedarburg. In 1962 he and his wife founded Ramminger Interiors Furniture and Floors in Kiel, and later founded America's Mattress in Kiel and Appleton. He was a member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kiel, the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion Casper Bechlem Post, the Kiel Chamber of Commerce, and a former member of the Kiel Kiwanis Club. Al loved spending time at "The Farm" in Rockville: planting trees to give back to nature; planting pumpkins so he could enjoy the fall harvest with his family and friends; hunting with his children and grandchildren; and gathered his family and friends to work on his many projects. He also enjoyed flying, hunting, bowling, and spending time in nature.

He is survived by his wife Eileen; 6 children: Debra (Wayne) Hoffmann of Kiel; Richard (Amy) Ramminger of Kiel; Kevin (Wendy) Ramminger of Manitowoc; Donna (Kraig) Thayer of Kiel; Suzie (Jay) Isselmann of Hollandtown; Michele (Thomas) Luebke of Menomonee Falls; 9 grandchildren: Bradley, Brian, and Sara Hoffmann; Maximus Ramminger; Hannah, Isabella, and Caroline Ramminger; Emily and Ally Isselmann; a brother: Leander (Rita Mae) Ramminger of St. Anna; a sister: Alice (Ray) Schad of School Hill; and 4 sisters-in-law: Gertie, Erma, Odelia, and Marilyn Ramminger.

He was preceded in death by 5 brothers and a sister-in-law: Randy (Mary Ceil) Ramminger, and Edwin, Erwin, Ambrose, and Anton Ramminger.

Visitation will be held at Wieting Family Funeral Home, 1212 Teckla Place, Kiel, from 3 to 7 PM, on Friday January 30, 2004. Funeral Mass will follow at 7:30 PM at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kiel, with Father Loren Nys officiating. Burial will take place in the Knollwood Mausoleum in Manitowoc on Saturday.
