Soloman, Gabriel and George Fitzhugh were among the first settlers in the vicinity now known as Forest Grove, coming there in 1854. The family came to Texas in 1844. In 1857 a brother, Willam, came to join them. George and William started a grist mill on East Fork of the Trinity and called it Fitzhugh Mills.

Mineral Wells, Texas, April 20 – Mr. George Fitzhugh, an honored and respected citizen of this county, died at his home five miles southwest of this city last night. He was 76 years old. His remains will be sent to McKinney for burial. (The Houston Daily Post, Houston, Tex, Apr 23, 1901
