Mr. [William] Prestman Hunter, of Savannah, and Miss Lily Eastman were married Saturday afternoon [March 13, 1897] by Dr. McDonald at his residence. The wedding was something of a surprise to the numerous friends of the young couple, none of whom knew of their intention to marry, just now at least.
Mr. Hunter is highly connected, very popular and is rising in his profession of electrical engineering. Mrs. Hunter has been known among a wide circle as being a pretty and lovable young woman. The young couple are at home on Pryor street, where they will remain until established in their own home.
Atlanta Constitution, 27 May 1898
Mrs. Lily May Hunter Dead.
This beautiful young woman, a little over one year ago a sweet pretty bride of sixteen, and three months ago a happy mother, died in the Angier Terrace last night at 9 p.m. after a short illness. She was the granddaughter of Mrs. W. L. Angier [Should be N. L. Angier - Nedom], the only daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Frank Eastman, and the niece of Messrs. Alton, Hugh, Edgar, Clarence and Wilmer Angier. Shortly before her death the beautiful, solemn and impressive Episcopal ceremony for the sick was repeated at her bedside, and the young bride feebly lisped the sacred responses of the church and looked yearningly at her fine baby boy, as the nurse bowed with the stricken relatives around the deathbed. With the grand church service read, the tired head sunk down among the pillows and with her thin, wasted hands in the form of a crucifix clasped over her bosom, the fair life of the beautiful young woman went out and the stainless soul returned to God, who gave it. The funeral arrangements will be announced later.
28 May 1898
