Steven D. Howell MECHANICSVILLE - Steven Dwaine Howell, 39, of the 9000 block of Tusing Ave., Mechanicsville, died in a motorcycle accident Thursday, June 23, 2011. He is survived by his wife, Joanne; his three young children, Devin Howell (15), Hailey Howell (13) and Sean Howell (11); his mother, Karen Mattox Zingg; his father, Branson Howell; his two sisters, Kim Helms and Amy Powell; a plethora of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends who all loved him dearly. He owned his own business, OBX Decks located in Mechanicsville. Steven was that rare soul who loved life and everyone who was fortunate enough to know him. He had been a single parent for many years and made countless sacrifices to raise his three children with never a single complaint. He loved his children more than life itself. Those who knew him will always remember him for his unbounding generosity, his big heart and the mischievous grin that was always on his face. Our world is a little less sweeter place now. A gravesite funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 28, at Rosewood Memorial Park located at 631 N. Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions for Steven's children to "Branson Howell for Steve's Kids," 902 Marguerite Drive, Winston-Salem, NC 27106.
