WALTON — James L. Robinson, 85, went to be with the Lord peacefully on March 22, 2006, at Delaware Valley Hospital after a long illness.

He was born to Murray and Frederica Robinson in Walton on Oct. 11, 1920.

He was predeceased by his devoted wife of 53 years, Jeanette Holley Robinson; also son-in-law, Dudley Stephens.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Allen Robinson, who meticulously cared for him over the last few years. Also survived by his children, John A. Robinson and Arlene Bradtke of Walton, Gail McNee and husband Jeff of Walton, Mary Eggelton and husband Frank of Walton, and Linda Yawn and Shawn Edwards of Douglasville, Ga.; grandchildren, Michael Doig and wife Raquel of Walton, Casey McNee of Walton, Daniel Stephens of Candler, N.C., Stephanie Wheeler and husband Chris of Walton, Kristina McAteer and husband Vincent of Warwick, R.I., Justin and Jarred Robinson of Walton, Jessica and Joel Yawn of Douglasville, Ga.; great-grandchildren, Chelsey and Courtney Wheeler, Kyle and Grace Doig, Ty Robinson and Lucas Robinson; brother, Herbert and wife Wanita of Norwich; sister, Alice Perley and husband Richard of Florida.

Jim was a member of the First Congregational Church of Walton.

He served in World War II in the field artillery division of the Army and was honorably discharged Nov. 21, 1945, to be with his wife and start his family.

He loved his four children dearly and got much enjoyment from them. Jim was a hardworking man, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.

He ran the family business of real estate and insurance, which his father Murray Robinson had started in 1908, for more than 30 years.

He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying maple sugaring, fishing, hunting, having picnics at his camp, with his family, and he also enjoyed logging their property with the help of his brother, Herb.

In his younger years, he enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson. In more recent years, he enjoyed aviation through flying his own plane.

As per his request, he would like to invite friends to join the family at a graveside service, at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 26, 2006, in the Walton Cemetery, with the Rev. Jennifer Matison Juliano officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the First Congregational Church, 4 Mead St., Walton, or the American Heart Association, PO Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13838.
