Rev. James Garnet (Jim) Acree, 84, 315 E. Whitman St., died at the residence Sunday morning, Jan. 29, after an extended illness.
Son of the late William Lumpkin and Fannie Ray Acree, he was born July, 10, 1893, in Banks County, and had lived here for some 37 years. Rev. Acree was an ordained minister and prior to his retirement was affiliated with Trogdon Furniture Co. some 37 years. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church near Homer and of Homer Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include a sister, Miss Lucille Acree of the residence; a brother, Doyle Acree of Athens and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral was Tuesday, Jan 31, at 2 p.m. from Tates Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Swayne Poole and Rev. Roy Jordan officiating. Members of the Homer Masonic Lodge served as pallbearers.
Interment was in Tates Creek Cemetery with Acree-Davis Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
