Jacob Henry Neiger, 77, a resident of 636 Tuscarawas Ave. NW, New Philadelphia, 19 years, died today in East Avenue Nursing Home, where he had been a patient 7 weeks. He had been ill a year.
Born near Stone Creek, a son of Jacob and Catherine Winterberger Neiger, he was a retired employe of Marsh Wall Products Div.
Affiliation: Dover St. John's United Church of Christ.
Twice married, his first wife, the former Mary F. Geckler, died in 1951. He was married in 1953 to the former Elva F. Maurer, who survives.
Other survivors: 2 daughters, Mrs. Hubert (Florence) Hawk of New Philadelphia and Mrs. Howard (Eugenia) Davis of Beaver, Pa.; a step-daughter, Mrs. Rudy (Arlene) Rothacher of New Philadelphia; two step-sons, John Maurer of Nashville, Tenn., and Gerald of Ashland; 3 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; a great-grandchild; 3 sisters, Mrs. Katherine Gordon, Mrs. Russell (Dorothy) Beitzel and Mrs. Thomas (Minnie) Tompkins, of New Philadelphia and 3 brothers, Harry of near Stone Creek, Edward of New Philadelphia and Fred of Dover. Three brothers and two sisters also preceded him in death.
Services: 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Linn-Hert Funeral Home, with Rev. Reinhard Krause officiating. Interment in Evergreen Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
