Nola Grace Thomas Noland, 84, passed away Tuesday, November 11, 2003 at Shawnee Garden Retirement Center in Shawnee, Kansas.
Grace was born Nola Grace Copper on October 10, 1919 in Plainville, Kansas to James E. Copper and Daisy Mae (Doak) Copper. She grew to adulthood in Stockton, Kansas, graduated from Stockton High School and attended Dodge City Community College.
Grace married L. I. "Tommy" Thomas on June 29, 1940 in Stockton, Kansas. After World War II, they settled in Logan, Kansas to raise three children. For 22 years, Grace and Tommy were partners in Thomas Hardware and Appliance in Logan. Tommy preceded Grace in death in 1968. grace continued to own and operate the Hardware store until 1981.
Grace married B.D. "Bill" Noland in 1977. They lived in Logan and enjoyed traveling until his death in December 1986.
Grace's interests were varied and included the Logan business community, the Order of the Eastern Star, travel and entertaining family and friends. Bill and Grace enjoyed participating in the restoration of The Church of Transfiguration in Logan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, all of her siblings and their spouses and her daughter-in-law, Linda Thomas. Grace is survived by her three children: Sherry Sweat, Tim Thomas and Tonyia and Art Kennedy; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
Services for Grace Thomas Noland were held Friday November 14, 2003 at 2:00 pm at the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration, Logan, Kansas with Rev. Dennis Gilhousen officiating.
Casket bearers were Gary Jones, Terry Maddy, Lynn Maddy, Harold Copper, Lanny Sperry and Donald Copper.
Interment was in Pleasant View Cemetery, Logan. Arrangements were by Logan Funeral Home.
