Sylvia Hinson, 80, a 53-year resident of Annapolis, died March 14 in Annapolis due to complications from Parkinson's Disease.
Born July 30, 1932 in Annapolis to the late Wilmer Rae Lee and Edna Marie Collison, Sylvia retired in 1993 from the Anne Arundel Health Department. She was a volunteer nurse for the Maryland State House, a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Annapolis, and a member of the the Red Hat Society of Annapolis. She enjoyed quilting, crafts, traveling and spending time with friends and family.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband, Ivey Lewis Hinson, whom she married October 31, 1953 and who died in 1999; daughter, Barbara Glendinning who died in 2010; and brother, Joseph Lee who died in 2011.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan Barrie of Severna Park and four grandchildren, Allison Glendinning, Ryan Wild, Evan Glendinning and Justin Wild.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m., Sunday March 17 at the John M. Taylor Funeral Home, Inc., 147 Duke of Gloucester Street, Annapolis. The funeral will be 10 a.m., Monday, March 18 in the Taylor Chapel. Interment Mayo UMC Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Sylvia's name to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
