Sara Frances Pendleton Hicks, 84, of Eden, NC, died Thursday, March 14, 2013, at Morehead Nursing Center in Eden. She was born on March 5, 1929, in Eden, to Ethan Green "E.G." Pendleton and Iva Hailey Pendleton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard B. Hicks. She was retired after more than 21 years as an insurance agent. As a professional piano teacher, she taught music for more than 55 years. She was a member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Eden, where she was the church organist for over 60 years. Surviving are one daughter, Jeanie Hale; two sons, Byron Pendleton Hicks and Richard Stephen Hicks; three sisters, Mary Louise "Penny" Ramsey, Gloria P. Robertson, and Alberlene "Abbie" Thomas; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
